(1) Ordering
I ordered the Echo 1 Mk36/G36 off of TrinityAirsoft.com for around $165 with free shipping. The gun came on time as the UPS tracking estimated time said it would. I live on the east side of the United States so the gun came in two days. TrinityAirsoft shipped the same day I think and overall came in around 2 days.
(2) Real Steel History
I took this info shamefully from Wikipedia.org with some editing so thanks wikipedia!
This subcarbine (C—compact) model is a further development of the G36K. It has a smaller barrel (than the G36K model), and a four-prong open-type flash hider. The relatively short barrel forced the weapon's designers to move the gas block closer to the muzzle's end and reduce the length of the gas piston operating rod. The handguard and stock were also shortened and the fixed carry handle (with optics) was replaced with a carrying handle with an integrated MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny rail. The dual optical sight found on the standard G36 and G36K models was replaced with a set of rail-mounted detachable iron sights that consist of a semi-shrouded front post and a flip-up rear sight with two apertures of different diameter. The short handguard has four accessory attachment points, one of which could be used for a vertical grip.
(3) Gun's Manufacturer/Rebrander
Echo 1 is a rebrander of guns in which Echo 1 purchases "clone" guns which are clones from Tokyo Marui. In this case Echo 1 rebranded the JG version of the G36c and reworked the internals, added warranty, and adds a few accessories which they replaced the sling with a better version and reinforced the gears and bushings and added a new 7mm ball bearing unit which is a very nice addup of Echo 1. These guns are high quality and nearly compete with G&G's Sportline models which are priced at around $140 however the G&G Sportline models do not include a battery and charger.
(4) Reason for Purchasing
I was in need of a high quality weapon that was compact, accurate, good range, high rate of fire, and decent FPS. At first I looked at the E1 MP5 versions and seems like that gun wasn't too accurate from the reviews. I looked at AirsoftGI.com which was the first place I was going to order but turns out it was out of stock. on AirsoftGI.com the reviews looked fantastic 150+ reviews of mostly 4-5 star rated. The G36c also impressed me because of its warranty and high capacity magazine which can also stack/clamp together. The best thing I love of the G36c models is the short barrel unlike the M4's which carry longer barrels and people have seen lots of barrel wobble when they purchase them. I heard that barrel length did not matter of accuracy so I went on and purchased the E1 because of the reasons posted before.
(5) First Impressions of the Echo 1 G36c
Inside of the Box
Manual; lots of Chinglish, bad grammer and spelling
Nothing much else here but images of the gun.
(6) Box Contents
Inside the box was the 450 round high capacity magazine, the 8.4 volt 1100 MAH battery, a cheap wall charger ( recommend a smart charger for faster charging and stops when its fully charged). Some crappy BBs don't use them unless your an internals expert ( I use these for my springers).
(7) Externals
Gun facing towards right
Gun with my accessories: a red dot circle sight, extra tokyo marui 470 round high capacity magazine, and standard wall charger.
Gun with my friend's red dot scope, Tokyo Marui 470 high capacity magazine clamped, and my foregrip.
Picture of g36c folded stock I just ripped this one off of the internet.
Thank you whoever made it.
The gun feels extremely sturdy with its polymer feel I have rocked it around a few times in a couple of games and all it showed was 2 small scratches that are very hard to see unless you have a high quality flashlight and see it very closely. The rails on the gun are full metal (the side ones and the top rail). The sights are full metal and rear sight is a square and the front sight is a circle like the Mp5's. The gun's outer body is not very glossy and it has a high quality metal orange flash hider. The stock is made out of thick polymer and folds with a push of a button near the beginning of the stock. The magazine is made out of not so good of quality as the gun's body itself but its made out of thick abs hollow plastic which is also transparent. The gun's selector switch is full metal and makes the most positive click I ever heard. The handguard is made out of thick Abs hollow plastic unlike the body which is made out of polymer. The only problem I have is that the stock wobbles a bit but its not a major one and could be fixed by screwing the screws that is holding it in place ( I am just too lazy to fix it). The magazine release is full metal and to remove the magazine you have to pull it off of the magazine catch like other g36c's nothing too special its just the same ol' g36c magazine release. The upper rail is a weaver/picatinny scope mount rail which can you can put any type of scope: red dot scope, red dot sight, sniper scope, thermal scope, whatever tickles your fancy. The trigger is made out of high qualiy metal just like the rails, sights, flash hider, and much more. Trigger guard is either thick high quality polymer or metal I still cant tell but its your standard G36 trigger guard. The pistol grip feels comfortable made out of thick hollow polymer which also houses the G36 motor.
(8) Sights
Standard G36 sights with two different apertures ( I didn't get the other I was too lazy and it took a while to get the first one right). My favorite sights and are very accurate they give me very precise shots.
(9) Hop-up
Sorry if you cant see it but the sun lit up the hop-up. Basic wheel based G36 hop up
It's getting late here and I will continue the review tommorow its almost 3am been working on this for 3 hours.
